A Passion for Printmaking
I make prints because I love printmaking, all of it! From creating the design, carving each layer, to pulling the last print, I love the whole process. It enables me to express my creativity, to work with my hands, and to problem solve with the goal to make something interesting.
I started linocut printing right before the pandemic. Like everyone, I had a lot of time on my hands, so the pandemic gave me an opportunity to develop my craft. About five years ago, I started working with wood block and now it's my preferred medium.
I'm not formally trained, but I am a learner and an experimenter. With each new print and design, I try to do something new to extend my capabilities, whether it's in the design phase or printing phase there's usually a twist or something different. Some work out beautifully and some are chalked up to experience, but either way I love the process.
